A beautiful bamboo, especially in late summer. It produces strong, straight culms. Three year old culms should be cut away each year to produce a good-looking plant. It suffers a lot in severe winters. Pl. chino 'Hisauchi' and P. simonii seem identical plants. Flowered from 2019 onwards and is not available anymore. Max 5m

The only bamboo with intense light yellow-green striped leaves. Very good for lightening up a dark spot. Cut back to the ground in spring.
