This Eucalyptus survived the winter 2003-2004 and 2004-2005; provenance from New Zealand. In 2006 the last one out of three died ... I replanted 3 trees in 2007, these are in 2008 still in good condition. I don't give up: replanted in 2017, recovered well from the nast cold spells in 2018 (-10°C in combination with a 7 Beaufort storm)!

"Omeo gum". Young branches are square, the leaves are dark grey-green and large. The bark is rough, grooved and fibred. It grows moderately fast as a shrub. According to the Americans the hardiest eucalyptus! It seems reasonably hardy here, recovers remarkably wel from freeze-back. Recovered from the harsh winters of 2003 and 2005. Tolerates poor drainage. Has a strong Eucalyptus smell, and is very good in your bath or sauna.

"Spinning gum", this Eucalyptus is so called because dead leaves spin around the branches. Leaves blue to purple-grey, the bark is grey-brown and peels off later. Very fast grower (2 m / year), is cut close to ground level for branches for flower-arranging but then doesn't flower. All perriniana's here in the garden died in the winter 2002-2003. The best provenances are from mainland Australia. Usually in stock.

Alpine Yellow Gum, Tasmanian Alpine Yellow Gum (Tasmania) Another very hardy and attractive Tasmanian tree. It has a beautiful bark that peels in vertical strips revealing yellow, tan and green patches; and the leaves are also a very deep green. The juvenile leaves are opposite, with square stems, and the adult leaves are pendulous. Fast growing and tolerant of a wide range of sites, including poorly drained soils. Good for hedges. Hardy from -12 to -18°C.
