Synonym of Fargesia gaolinensis. Now named Tongpeia arachnoides by Chris Stapleton. Seedlings (from wild seed, Fargesias gaolinensis was discovered by Professor Hongchao TAN near the place Gaolin County Songming in Yunnan, China on 2100 Meter ) have been planted at 3 different locations in the garden. This plant requires lots of irrigation in summer to grow tall and wide. Height in China till 12 m. Edible shoots in autumn!

Giant clumping bamboo, not yet fully tested under different conditions; various clones are sometimes available (the hardiest: KR5287 (pictured) and KR7613). Hardy till -18 or more with protection. New upright growing culms are striking blue. Old culms bend to the ground and may be pruned. Borinda is a group of clumping bamboos, different from Fargesia, mainly growing in the Himalayas.
