Banana

Banana plants can grow and even flower in your garden, but frost protection with straw, leaves and rough compost is essential for good growth. Especially in summer they need plenty of water and manure. Hardy bananas won't give you edible fruit, but they are impressive ornamental giants for your garden. They need shelter from wind! Recent new introductions are now under observation like the awesome "Chinichampa" and a giant form of Musa yunnanense.
