This purple-foliaged form of Acacia baileyana (common name: Cootamundra wattle) hails from Australia. In common with other wattles, it has beautiful, golden flowers. Acacia suffers from wet winters. Essential for the mediterranean garden. This fast growing tree is in cold areas best kept in containers. A dry, hot place in full sun, preferably against a south-facing wall, will encourage optimal flowering.

Wonderful fern-like leaf that hangs 'sleepily' at night. Beautiful yellow flowers. Acacia suffers in wet winters. Essential for the meditteranean garden. "Subalpina" is supposed to be hardier. This fast growing tree flowered here very well during the winters of 2006, 2007 and 2008 in early spring, but froze in the winter of 2008/2009. A dry, hot place in full sun, preferably against a south-facing wall, will encourage optimal flowering. Replanted in 2019. Frozen in febr. 2021 (at -13°C) replanted in 2023
